To kick off The Jacuzzi we are holding a contest. It is very simple. We want you to help spread the word about our single “My Body”. All you have to do is reblog this post on your page and spread it as much as you can. We will pick a random winner a week from now and they will receive a SIGNED POSTER.
Played a show at the SLC on FSU campus tonight. It was interesting. My hi hat stand collapsed 2 minutes into the song but I kept on thuggin. We all enjoyed it and now I’m actually kinda stoked about the show on Tuesday. And we also got radio play in Miami on an FIU student-run station, which is pretty neat. I need a day off from drumming. My wrist is fucked.
so, here’s this new track. we recorded it with our good friend matt shim (three man cannon / ah, horse hockey). it’s going to be on a compilation coming out some time in the next few months, and maybe something else, but we coudn’t wait. we’d rather you know at least four songs that we play live these days. okay, okay, no more posting songs!
“Don’t think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It’s self-conscious and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can’t “try” to do things. You simply “must” do things.”— Ray Bradbury (via 117elevenseven)
I will hibernate in a bass drum, with an iPod that only has the Mutemath discography. As I am in deep slumber, my subconscious mind will learn every beat to every Mutemath song ever. I will awaken several months later and maybe, just maybe I’ll have an ounce of Darren King’s talent.
Our first day in the studio went swimmingly. We knocked out a scratch track (after fumbling around tempo changes for an hour or two) and Brian tracked about half of his drum part. (The poor guy recorded non-stop for two hours. What a champ.)
*Side note: Don’t touch a violist’s viola, as bad things will follow.
Robby’s doing a great job of keeping us focused, and making sure everything sounds as good as possible. We’re really stoked to be working with him. We’re heading back today to finish up drums and hopefully guitars.
And Dan will throw down more poses.
Thanks for following us, by the way. I’m sure you have better things to do than sit around and read about our mundane lives, and it means a lot that you’re at least somewhat invested in our future. We’d really like to think we’ve got something going here, and we’re glad you’re along for the ride!
Alright, enough with the sappy stuff. Back to the studio. More updates soon.
This Friday, my band is going to be recording the first song for our EP. I’m really excited about it, but I’m also nervous as ever. It’s my first time being in a professional studio. I still don’t have my parts finished for the song. But I can’t change the appointment so I’m practicing my ass off….
Today was our last day of prep before going into the studio next Friday. We couldn’t be more excited about having something to share with all of you.
We spent our day practicing, eating delivery Digiorno pizza, searching for fire wood, hanging out in Target, doing a photoshoot (thanks Kaitlin!) , and hanging at our favorite local pizza shop, Momo’s.
(I know what you’re thinking: Pizza twice in one day. What can I say? We like to live on the edge.)
At one point, we also discussed our pre-teen taste in music, the consensus lying somewhere between Linkin Park, Godsmack, and Frank Sinatra. But I digress…
Photos up on the Facebook soon. Next update from the studio!
